Meet the Couple
For those of you who would like to get to know the couple a bit better, we took the time to write you a tiny introduction.

Phil - The bear

Danique
I was born and raised in The Netherlands. For the longest time, I was certain that I wanted to become an actress when I grew up, which drew me to Maastricht to audition for theater school. Unfortunately, that faith turned out not to be in the cards for me, though Maastricht stole my heart as soon as I stepped out of the train station. I ended up studying at its university and lived there for a good 11 years. This remarkable, historic city will always have a special place in my heart, and I'm so glad we will get to show some of you around town, since the venue is very close!
I love cooking. My time in Canada thus far has definitely emphasised that. I also really like to spend my time in nature, preferably near water. Phil's family can vouch for the fact that the water has to be proper cold for me not to swim. They will never forget my first "Nieuwjaarsduik"... I think my love for cold plunges came with my love for sauna rather than Wim Hof being a Dutchman. Besides that, I love spending time with those that are dear to me, dancing, goofing off, and making noise (this includes yapping in Dutch to our two cats Squigs and Casper, who will, unfortunately, not be able to join us). It is therefore that I am genuinely thrilled to have this celebration with all of you.
Hopefully, we'll get to talk soon at the wedding!
Born and raised in Quebec, the beautiful land of poutine and maple syrup of Canada. I'm pretty much as geek as they do them these days. Obscure fantasy lore, epic space operas, history & biology were always fascinating to me. But as much as I enjoy Dungeons & Dragons, it is not (believe it) my only hobby. I love exploring the outdoors, painting or casually dressing as a viking as we raid islands on a canoe for my friend's bachelor. Also, I'll never be as good as Danique in the kitchen, but I do a mean tartar, and I know out to cook them PO-TA-TOES !
One of my dream was always to move to Europe to live and explore the rich history and culture that unfolds there. Speaking of culture : ondanks de hoofdpijn leer ik langzaam maar zeker de ''prachtige'' Nederlandse taal. This love for history and culture brought me to Palermo, Sicily. Amongst the many treasures hidden there, layed a beautiful, strong swamp german lady, and the rest is history.
And so began the paperwork to cross the Atlantic! I'm beyond excited to call Europe home for the next few years. While I haven't yet spent as much time there as I’d hoped with Danique’s family and friends, I’m eager to make up for lost time and deepen those precious bonds. I can’t wait to meet you all, celebrate together, and start this next chapter. See you soon!
